Mette Nielsen was born in Odense in 1985. She studied composition at The Royal Danish Academy of Music and The Royal Academy of Denmark, Aarhus, where she had her debut in 2017. 

She works with ensembles in all sizes, soloists, choir and orchestra. In April 2023 she had her first orchestra piece performed by Odense Symphony Orchestra. That same spring the album Frozen Moments was released, with NOVO Quartet and Jonas Frølund playing her string quartets and works for basset clarinet.

In the spring of 2024 Mette Nielsen’s music can be heard among other places at Spor Festival and at concerts with Århus Sinfonietta.
