Tomas Lundström holds the position of First Solo Cellist at the Royal Danish Orchestra. 

Born in Uppsala 1988, Tomas started playing the cello at the age of 4 and has since studied with, among

others; Alexey Seleznev, Natalia Shakhovskaya, Ola Karlsson, Frans Helmerson and Torleif Thedéen.

Tomas completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees and later Soloist Diploma at The Royal College of Music in Stockholm/Edsberg and was shortly after appointed First Solo Cellist of Malmö Opera until 2019.

in 2007 Tomas won the National Association for Young Musicians (RUM) soloist competition and was also

awarded first price in the chamber music category with his string quartet. In June 2011, he participated

in the 21st Century Art competition in Mänttä-Vilppula, Finland, and received two first prizes in the categories solo and chamber music.

Tomas is an active chamber musician and performs regularly at international music festivals and has as a soloist performed with, among others; Gävle Symphony Orchestra, Uppsala Chamber Soloist,

Voronezh Philharmonic Orchestra, Camerata Kazakhstan, Almaty State Philharmonic Orchestra and Astana Philharmonic Orchestra.

Tomas plays a cello by Franciscus Geissenhof, 1797.
